Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As part of the exhibition “Rishtan ceramics: the pearl of the pottery art of Central Asia” taking place in Washington, a master class and seminar on ceramics was held at the DC Clay Center in the US capital with the participation of descendants of the pottery dynasty from Rishtan, reports Dunyo news agency.

The event was attended by American ceramics enthusiasts, leading art historians and potters, and USAID Deputy Director Anjali Kaur also attended as a listener.

Master classes were held on the topics of media coverage of Rishtan ceramics and its history, the secrets of the technique of forming Rishtan ceramics and techniques of painting and decorating with patterns, as well as methods of creating pigment paints from herbs.

As a result of the event, a distribution agreement worth a total of US$3 million was concluded between the American trading company ASU Trading LLC and Exclusive Ceramic of Rishtan LLC, Rishtan district.

Together with the administration of the Rishtan district, USAID and the DC Clay Center studio, an agreement was reached on the creation of the Rishtan pottery school in the USA. DC Clay Center and Alexandria Clay Co-op have agreed to offer seven-day pottery tourism packages.

An agreement was reached between the administration of the Rishtan district, USAID and the Rishta Pottery Center on the implementation of the social program “Ceramic Therapy”.

In the following days, regular seminars are planned with the participation of Rishtan masters at the Alexandria Clay Co-op pottery studio in Virginia.
