The job fair is planned to be organized jointly by Samarkand city hokimiyat (local administration), employment center, prosecutor’s office and department of internal affairs with the support of UNDP "ACCESS" Project.

They will focus on people with disabilities and other groups of population covered by the Cabinet of Ministers’ Resolution "On Adoption of the Regulations on Reserving Jobs for Employment of Persons Needing Social Support and Having Difficulties in Labor Market" of 20 August 2008.

Job-fairs for job-seekers are conducted throughout the country on a regular basis as a part of the Government’s efforts to tackle social problems.

Last year, a similar event was supported by project ACCESS and gathered hundreds of people, mostly youth, as well as people with disabilities interested in job opportunities.

According to data of the Samarkand City Employment Center, 105 people, including 41 RWDs found jobs. The total number of job-fair participants was over 2000. Job-fairs are only one element of the socio-legal model of support to employment of PWDdisabilities. They have been developed and piloted in three regions of Uzbekistan (Tashkent, Samarkand, and Shakhrisabz) within the framework of the "ACCESS" project.

Other integral elements are clubs for job-seeking PWDs , capacity building for employment specialists, decision-makers and organizations of PWDs, as well as information portal, which is currently being developed.

Joint Project of UNDP and the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Population "ACCESS" is aimed at expanding the opportunities for social integration and employment for PWDs through raising public awareness and forming positive public opinion on the issues of disability; improving coordination and building capacity of state and non-state actors in promotion of implementation of disability legislation; promoting accessibility of social infrastructure objects; creating a system of social support and employment of PWDs.
