Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Six cases of infection with the deltacron coronavirus strain, which is called a "hybrid" of the delta and omicron variants, have been registered in Moscow and St. Petersburg.

“The sequences are dated July and early August. Five samples for research were taken in St. Petersburg, one in Moscow,” Rospotrebnadzor said. The federal service noted that patients suffered Covid-19 easily (whether they had already recovered is not specified) and were treated at home.

According to the authorities, "deltacron" does not affect the epidemiological situation in any way, since it does not dominate the other variants of SARS-CoV-2 - sublines BA.4 and BA.5 of the omicron strain. They, in turn, are several times more resistant to the antibodies of those who have been ill and vaccinated than the "omicron" itself.
