A grand opening of Humo Arena ice complex to be held in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 15 March 2019, a solemn opening ceremony of the ice complex “Humo Arena” with the participation of President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev will take place in Tashkent.

Among the invited guests are members of the government and the parliament of the country, regional leaders, representatives of public organizations, scientists and culture workers, famous athletes of Uzbekistan, Paralympians, the diplomatic corps, pupils of children’s sports schools, orphanages, and youth of Uzbekistan.

 The main idea of the opening ceremony is a synergy of the beauty of winter ice sports and the most ice arena, unique in its architecture and multi-purpose.

 The compositional display will be carried out through modern art with light, laser and sound design approaches, vertical and horizontal projection, unique scenery, 3D animation, performances of artists, dance groups, acrobats and aerial gymnasts, figure skaters, hockey players and other sports. All the action on the main stage and the ice rink will be a symbiosis of art and sport.

The scene of the main celebration will be transformed into the Olympic site, where masters of summer and winter sports will show their skills - boxers, wrestlers, takwondo players, footballers, fencers, young figure skaters of Uzbekistan, as well as pupils of the Tashkent hockey school together with the legends of world hockey.

Young figure skaters of Uzbekistan, as well as students of the Tashkent hockey school together with the legends of world sport on ice in an improvised game, will show their skills. The evening of the grand opening of the complex will continue the ice performance “The Nutcracker”, as well as a grandiose musical show program.

Construction of the complex began in February 2017. The complex is a modern high-tech glass and metal building. Smart and green energy efficient technologies are widely used in the construction of the complex. The new ice complex combines modern architectural solutions, advanced technologies and traditions of national architecture.

 According to the authors of the project, the design of this complex resembles the Uzbek symbol of love, happiness and freedom - the Humo Bird, where the walking sidewalks on the territory of the complex are built in the shape of a bird’s wing.

The complex is located on the territory of 9 hectares and consists of the following objects:

- multifunctional ice arena (12,500 seats);

- small training arena (200 places);

- sports museum, gyms, fitness center, restaurant, sports shop;

- 5-level parking for cars.

- The dimensions of the rinks of the main and small arenas are the Olympic standard (60 × 30 m), the possibility of transformation under the standards of the KHL and the NHL (60x28, 60x26).

The main arena accommodates 12,500 people and will be used for hockey matches. The hall has the ability to change the placement of seats depending on the sporting event held. The main arena also includes basketball, volleyball, handball, futsal, boxing, taekwondo, short track, figure skating and curling matches, as well as concerts. Capacity in the format of a concert hall - 10 000 spectators.

A small arena with a capacity of 200 seats will serve as a training hockey arena, there will also be provided for mass skating for all comers. On the territory of the complex, in addition to the sports museum, gym and fitness halls, there will be an indoor playground, catering facilities, a sports equipment store and other facilities. Sports teams will also be formed on its basis and enterprises for the production of sports clothing and equipment will be organized.
