Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Today, within the framework of the 25th session of the General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the Global Investment Forum began its work in the Expocenter of the Silk Road Samarkand tourist complex.

The Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of Uzbekistan Aziz Abdukhakimov and UNWTO Secretary General Zurab Pololikashvili opened the Forum with a welcoming speech.

The Investment Forum will feature 5 panel sessions and 22 presentations with the participation of ministers and heads of international financial institutions.

In addition, an address list of promising projects with a total value of $ 2 billion will be formed and presented to investors.

During the Investment Forum, Zurab Pololikashvili presented Aziz Abdukhakimov with a special guide on investing in the tourism industry of Uzbekistan "Tourism doing business. Investing in Uzbekistan».

It should be recalled that yesterday the opening ceremony of the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly took place in Samarkand, during which the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward a number of important initiatives for the further development of the country’s tourism industry.
