Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A blood products plant will be set up in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Chinese company Xindeyuan Bioengineering. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Ministry of Health and the Chinese company held negotiations and agreed on the implementation of the project in Samarkand region.

The plant will be located in the FEZ "Urgut". Xindeyuan Bioengineering plans to invest US$250 million to implement the project.

The enterprise for the production of hematological drugs and reagents will be the first in Central Asia. After the launch, the plant will cover the needs of the population in blood components and related products, as well as reduce their import.

According to the Ministry of Health, 67 types of medicines and medical devices are currently used in hematology and transfusiology. Most of these drugs are imported.
