Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 3 November 2023, the 55th meeting of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy (ICAP) was held in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.

Representatives of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as representatives of the CIS Executive Committee and the Eurasian Economic Commission took part in the ICAP meeting.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy, Head of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (Russian Federation) Maxim Shaskolsky.

The Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan made a welcoming speech, who noted that the creation of an equal and fair competitive environment and its consistent promotion is a necessary condition for economic development, therefore any measures aimed at this goal are welcomed, including holding a meeting Interstate Council on Antimonopoly Policy in the Republic of Armenia.

The meeting participants informed about the most notable events that occurred in the CIS member states in the field of antimonopoly policy in the current period, noting that the Commonwealth states are actively working to improve the legislative framework, the practice of applying antimonopoly legislation and the structure of the CIS antimonopoly authorities in order to increase the efficiency of market transformations in the economy and ensuring compliance with antimonopoly legislation in socially significant markets.

Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation of the CIS Executive Committee Mikhail Myskin informed the meeting participants about the main events held within the Commonwealth.

During the ICAP meeting, information was heard on the activities of the Headquarters for joint investigations of violations of the antimonopoly legislation of the CIS member states.

During the meeting, the Report “The Institute of Unfair Competition in the Legislation and Law Enforcement Practice of the CIS Member States” and the Report “Application of Antimonopoly Legislation to Intellectual Property in the CIS Member States” were approved. It was decided to send these documents to the CIS Executive Committee for consideration in the prescribed manner.

During the ICAP meeting, a ceremony was held to award diplomas from the FAS Russia and the Commission for Protection of Competition of the Republic of Armenia to representatives of the antimonopoly authorities of the CIS member states who made a great personal contribution to the development of cooperation in the field of competition policy.

Decisions on all issues on the agenda were made unanimously.

The next meeting of the ICAP is scheduled to be held on 30–31 May 2024 in Dushanbe, Republic of Tajikistan.
