Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, Chairman of the Republican Commission on Increasing the Role of Women in Society, Gender Equality and Family Tanzila Narbayeva takes part in the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women in New York.

It should be noted that the Commission is a working body of the UN Economic and Social Council and is developing international standards for the protection and promotion of women’s rights, as well as proposals for their implementation.

During the two-week event, representatives of the UN and civil society will discuss progress in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration.

The session will focus on accelerating gender equality and empowering women and girls by addressing poverty, strengthening institutions and gender-responsive financing.

During the visit, it is also planned to hold bilateral meetings with the heads of UN structures, presidents of a number of states, government leaders and ministers.
