A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis is on a working visit to London

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis is on a working visit to London (UK) to participate in the international forum “New Uzbekistan: new opportunities, social partnership for development”, held by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

It should be noted that relations between Uzbekistan and the UK have significant potential for political and diplomatic, mutually beneficial high-level cooperation and cultural and humanitarian exchange.

From this point of view, on the first day of the visit, the President of the Senate held a number of bilateral meetings.

During the conversation with the British Minister for Women’s Affairs Maria Caulfield, issues of establishing cooperation between the two countries in the field of ensuring gender equality and empowering women were discussed.

In particular, attention is focused on such areas as protecting the rights and interests of women, providing them with comprehensive support, combating domestic violence, and reducing the impact of climate change on the quality of life of women and girls.

An exchange of views took place on the implementation of joint projects to support women’s entrepreneurship, create new jobs, improve the living and working conditions of women, and exchange experiences in the field of high-quality and accessible education for girls under the STEM program.

British Minister for Women M. Caulfield emphasized the strategic importance of New Uzbekistan’s efforts to stimulate the political, economic and social activity of women in the life of the country. She highly appreciated the results achieved in recent years in the area of eliminating all forms of discrimination against women and ensuring gender equality.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to intensify mutually beneficial cooperation between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries.
