Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 18-21 November 2023, a delegation of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, headed by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality M. Kadirkhanova, took part in the autumn session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, held in Yerevan (Armenia).

More than 220 parliamentarians from 50 OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation were represented at the event.

The session included a meeting of the Standing Committee, as well as a parliamentary conference: “OSCE in times of crisis: the role of the Parliamentary Assembly in responding to internal and external challenges.” During the session, issues related to conflict resolution in the OSCE space, the fight against corruption, the protection of human rights, and the exchange of experience in the field of organizing elections were discussed.

In addition, during the session, parliamentarians heard reports from the leadership of the Parliamentary Assembly and OSCE institutions, and considered the interim results of the Assembly’s work in 2023.

Within the framework of the parliamentary conference, speeches and reports were made by members of the delegation, who informed about the measures taken in Uzbekistan in the fight against gender-based violence, about the implementation of the Mehr programs for the return to their homeland of women and children affected by the activities of terrorist organizations, their integration into society, as well as the fight against corruption in the country.

During the stay of the delegation of Uzbekistan, a number of bilateral meetings were held with the leadership of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, during which the current state and prospects for interaction of our country within the OSCE PA were discussed.

Representatives of the OSCE PA highly appreciated the level of interaction, the active position of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the Assembly and expressed their readiness to continue to provide comprehensive assistance in implementing socio-political and socio-economic transformations, strengthening the institutions of civil society.
