Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation led by Minister of Youth Policy and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan Adkham Ikramov, Secretary General of the NOC Oybek Kasimov took part in the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum 2023" in Kazan.
As part of the event, meetings were held to raise the relations of the sports sector in these regions to a new level.
During the visit, the Uzbek delegation met with Raisi of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matitsin and discussed new plans in the field of sports between Uzbekistan and Russia.
Within the framework of the event, a meeting of the Joint Commission of Ministers of Sports of both countries was held, following which a memorandum of cooperation between the states was signed.
It is worth noting that Kazan is defined as the capital of Russian sports, since the Russian national teams in many sports are preparing for major competitions in this city.
Kazan hosted the World Summer Universiade (2013), the World Aquatics Championship (2015), the matches of the World Cup (2018), as well as the first games of the CIS-2021. In short, the local sports infrastructure meets all international and modern standards.
The officials exchanged views on joint preparation for the upcoming competitions, holding joint training camps with the participation of National teams, and exchanging experience in achievements in the sports field. Also on the agenda of the conversation was the study of the experience of Kazan in preparation for the Asian Youth Games "Tashkent-2025".
The visit also included a meeting with officials of the Russian Olympic Committee headed by Stanislav Pozdnyakov. The event discussed issues of further strengthening long-term friendly relations between the parties, exchange of experience on the latest achievements in the industry.
