Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A criminal case has been opened in connection with the death of a student of the 99th school in the Mirzo-Ulugbek district of Tashkent. This was reported by the press service of the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The incident occurred on 27 November. An eighth-grade student left the playground and lost consciousness.

School staff called an ambulance. The child was taken to the Republican Specialized Cardiology Center No. 15. Despite the efforts of the doctors, the teenager did not regain consciousness and died.

According to preliminary findings, the cause of death was electric shock, acute respiratory failure, cardiovascular failure, cerebral and pulmonary edema, as well as electric shock to the palm of the left hand.

A criminal case was opened under articles 186 (performing work or providing services that do not meet safety requirements) and 207 (official negligence). Those found guilty face up to 12 years in prison.
