Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A Coordination Council in the field of forensic activities has been formed in the Commonwealth of Independent States. The corresponding Agreement was signed on 13 October at a meeting of the Council of Heads of states of the CIS in Bishkek.

It is expected that the Council will include heads of competent government bodies (institutions) responsible for coordinating cooperation between national forensic examination bodies.

The Council will promote the convergence and harmonization of national legislation in the field of forensic activities of countries, interact with relevant government bodies, CIS bodies, as well as international organizations on issues within its competence, and develop proposals for improving the legal framework for cooperation.

Its functions also include participation in the development and implementation of interstate programs that touch upon the field of forensic activities, systematization, standardization and unification of expert research methods, facilitating the exchange of information on issues of its competence, organizing the preparation and distribution of methodological publications, and advanced training personnel, consideration of issues of holding joint scientific and practical conferences, research work on issues of mutual interest.
