Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health (RSNPMCMCH) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. A dedicated international scientific and practical conference is being held in Tashkent from 17 to 19 October.

At the conference’s opening, a congratulatory message from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the staff of the Republican Specialized Center for Maternal and Child Health on the anniversary was read to the participants.

By decree of the President, several employees were awarded prestigious national honors, presented at the conference by the Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Acting Minister of Health of Uzbekistan, Asilbek Khudayarov, emphasized: “Caring for maternal and child health is one of the priority areas of Uzbekistan’s healthcare system, and this conference aims to improve the quality of specialized medical care for women and children, facilitate experience exchange between specialists, and introduce into practice modern, scientifically based, and best clinical recommendations using advanced international expertise.”

The Maternal and Child Health Center is the leading institution for maternal and child health services in Uzbekistan. As a specialized national-level medical institution, it operates as a scientific and practical medical complex, comprising scientific, diagnostic, educational, administrative, and other departments.

The Center's history began in October 1974, when the Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology was established on the basis of Maternity Hospital No. 2 in Tashkent—the first facility in Uzbekistan to provide both obstetric care and education, designed to assist pregnant women and newborns while training highly qualified specialists in obstetrics, gynecology, perinatology, and anesthesiology-reanimatology.

In 2022, the Center became the first public medical institution in Uzbekistan to successfully pass international accreditation for healthcare quality and received an International Quality Certificate.

The Center, along with its 14 regional branches across the country, oversees the activities of maternity healthcare institutions in Uzbekistan.

The Center's key goals include developing a high-tech scientific and material base, as well as an obstetric-gynecological school capable of providing specialized medical care at the highest quality and in accordance with international standards.

To enhance the expertise of specialists, the Center regularly organizes training seminars and workshops featuring leading international experts, as well as experience exchange and cutting-edge technology demonstrations during forums and conferences.

This year’s international scientific-practical conference, "Current Issues in Obstetrics and Gynecology," dedicated to the Center's anniversary, brought together experts from around 12 foreign countries and specialists from all regions of Uzbekistan.

Addressing the participants of the medical forum, the Director of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health, Natalya Nadyrkhanova, noted that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, large-scale and comprehensive measures to protect maternal and child health and strengthen reproductive health are continuously implemented in Uzbekistan.

The conference featured plenary and breakout sessions, scientific-practical seminars, and master classes. Along with domestic specialists, presenters, speakers, and moderators included representatives of leading medical institutions from Belarus (Minsk), Germany (Berlin), Lithuania (Vilnius), Italy (Perugia), Kazakhstan (Astana, Almaty, and Shymkent), China (Guangzhou), Kyrgyzstan (Bishkek), the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi), South Korea (Seoul), Ukraine (Kyiv), Russia (about six cities), and Turkey (Ankara, Konya).

Russia's scientific community had the largest representation at the Tashkent conference. Specialists from Moscow’s Medical Institute of RUDN and from St. Petersburg’s D.O. Ott Research Institute of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Science, V.A. Almazov National Medical Research Center, and I.P. Pavlov First St. Petersburg State Medical University, as well as experts from Kazan, Astrakhan, Yekaterinburg, and Kaliningrad, shared their expertise in modern obstetrics and gynecology technologies.

During the conference, the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Maternal and Child Health signed cooperation agreements with two Russian institutions: the Moscow Regional Research Institute of Obstetrics and Gynecology named after Academician V.I. Krasnopolsky, and the Kaliningrad Regional Perinatal Center.
