A branch of Russian State University of Physical Education, Sports, Youth and Tourism opens in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Russian delegation headed by the rector of the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sport, Youth and Tourism Tamara Mikhailova is in Samarkand.

Foreign guests during the visit visited the building allocated for the branch, as well as a sports complex where students will be engaged. In particular, they took part in the opening ceremony of the newly-repaired arena of the Samarkand specialized boarding school of the Olympic reserve.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Physical Culture and Sports D. Nabiyev and the governor of the Samarkand region E. Turdimov.

For the capital reconstruction of this building, 9.7 billion soums were allocated. The Fund for Development of Physical Culture and Sports has allocated modern equipment of 32 types in the amount of 250 million soums.

In October 2018, a meeting took place between the leaders of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of Uzbekistan and the Russian State University of Physical Culture, Sports, Youth and Tourism on mutual cooperation. Over the past period, the parties held several meetings and as a result, an agreement was reached on opening a branch of this higher educational institution in Samarkand. A draft resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has been prepared on this, the press service of the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sport informs.

The event noted that in the process of preparing highly qualified specialists for physical culture and sports, the availability of modern sports facilities is of great importance. In this sense, this building serves simultaneously as a base for a branch of a foreign university.

About the new branch of the university rector Tamara Mikhailova said the following: “Samarkand is the first branch of our university abroad. In order to ensure the successful operation of this university, we will attract here experienced, qualified specialists. In addition, our students will practice in the sports bases of Russia. "

It is worth noting that young people will study here not only from Uzbekistan, but also from all of Central Asia. Also, a gradual expansion of areas of study is planned.

In the 2019/202020 academic year, the full-time branch will receive more than 150 students in volleyball, basketball, handball, football, athletics, rhythmic gymnastics, tennis, swimming, and rowing on canoes. Training is conducted under the current program of the Russian Federation.

Graduates receive diplomas of the Russian sample, which are valid in the Republic of Uzbekistan and Russia, as a document of higher education.
