Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A car number plate with a unique combination was sold for 422.3 million soums in Uzbekistan, as confirmed by the data from the commodity exchange. To complete the transaction, the buyer must pay for the number plate and register it with the Traffic Police.

On 2 May, a total of 752 number plates were sold at the auction, of which 707 were purchased by individuals and the remaining 45 by legal entities. The minimum price for a number plate was 1.9 million soums.

The record for the highest price for a "beautiful" number was set on 24 December 2024, when the price reached 965.3 million soums (approximately US$74,770 based on the Central Bank’s exchange rate). This surpassed the previous record, set just one day earlier, by 75%.

The third highest sale occurred on 28 March, when a number plate was purchased by a legal entity from Tashkent for 517.1 million soums. The price at the auction increased by two-thirds from the starting bid.

Other notable sales include a number plate sold for 508 million soums on July 10, and one sold for 351 million soums on 6 September. High prices were also recorded in the following months: 404 million soums on 6 August, 408.4 million soums on November 7, 474 million soums on 5 December, and 472.9 million soums on 18 December.

In total, the volume of car number plate sales at the commodity exchange in 2024 amounted to approximately 800 billion soums, double the previous year’s total. Of the 195,000 plates sold, 97% were purchased by individuals.
