Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In Kashkadarya region, a 16-year-old girl who ran away from home was forced into prostitution. This was reported by the press service of the Children’s Ombudsman.

The girl, who contacted the children’s ombudsman, said that she left her home in Samarkand due to pressure and misunderstanding from relatives.

An acquaintance took her to a house in Karshi district of Kashkadarya region, where the owner forced her to engage in prostitution.

After some time, the girl managed to escape and seek help.

Based on a request from the Children’s Ombudsman, the Department of Internal Affairs of Kashkadarya region conducted a pre-investigation check in this case.

On 5 March, a criminal case was opened against citizen G.N. under Part 4 of Art. 131 of the Criminal Code (Pandering or maintaining brothels). A preliminary investigation is underway.
