Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  The Central Election Commission of Uzbekistan approved the creation of polling stations at the country’s diplomatic and other representations abroad during a meeting on Monday.

According to the proposal from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 56 polling stations will be established in 39 countries.

In 29 countries, including Austria, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Belarus, Belgium, the United Kingdom, Hungary, Egypt, Israel, India, Indonesia, Iran, Spain, Italy, Kuwait, Latvia, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Poland, Singapore, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, France, Switzerland, Sweden, and Japan, one polling station will be created in each.

In seven countries—Germany, Kyrgyzstan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the United States, Turkey, and South Korea—two polling stations will be set up.

Three polling stations will operate in Kazakhstan and China, and seven will be established in Russia.

For the first time, elections will be held using a mixed majoritarian-proportional system: out of 150 seats in the Legislative Chamber, 75 deputies will be elected from single-member districts, and the remaining 75 will be elected from a unified district based on votes cast for political parties.

On 21 August, the Central Election Commission decided to admit the UzLiDeP, "Milliy Tiklanish," the Social-Democratic Party "Adolat," the National Democratic Party of Uzbekistan, and the Ecological Party to the elections.
