Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 July, a 4-year-old girl sustained facial burns due to a transformer short circuit incident in one of the settlements of the Andijan district, according to the press service of the Regional Electric Networks of Andijan Region.

According to available information, the child was playing in the courtyard of an apartment complex when her cat ran into the basement, where a 35/0.4 kV, 1000 kVA transformer substation was located. The animal entered the operational transformer, triggering a short circuit.

The girl, watching through the basement door, was injured during the incident and suffered facial burns. She was promptly given first aid and transported to the hospital. Her condition is currently reported as stable.

The energy company has launched an investigation into the incident.
