Enraged fans began to throw various objects at the security forces, to which they used batons and tear gas grenades in response.
After the incident, the Indonesian Human Rights Commission called for checking the work of the security services on the ground. Thus, it became known that the stadium, which can accommodate no more than 38 thousand people, was attended by about 42 thousand visitors on Saturday.
Indonesian Sports Minister Zainudin Amalie said the agency will review the requirements for organizing football matches. In addition, the games of the Indonesian top league BRI Liga 1 will be suspended while the circumstances of the incident are being investigated.
