Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 January 2019, out of 323,500 organizations and enterprises operating in the services sector, about 213,000 were operating. Of the total number of organizations and enterprises providing services, over 153,000 are small businesses. As of 1 January 2019, their share was 72.2%, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
As of 1 January 2019, the share of organizations and enterprises engaged in trading activities (33.3%) prevails in the structure of existing organizations and enterprises in the service sector.
The development of partnerships between countries of near and far abroad, as well as tourism industry has an impact on increase in the number of existing organizations and enterprises providing services for accommodation and meals. Their share was 9.3%.
The share of existing organizations and enterprises engaged in transportation and storage in the total number of existing organizations and enterprises belonging to the services sector amounted to 6.2%.
The share of existing organizations and enterprises engaged in information activities and providing communication services was 3.3%.
The share of existing organizations and enterprises providing services in the field of health care, as well as social services, was 3.2%.
In January - December 2018, according to preliminary data, the volume of market services rendered was equal to 146.836 trillion soums. Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate was 8.4%.
The structure of rendered market services was dominated by transportation services (29.5%), trade services (26.9%), financial services (14.4%), communications and information services (6.6%).
Compared with last year, the volume of market services rendered in January-December 2018 increased by 28.2 trillion soums. In comparison with the previous period of the current year (January-November 2018), the volume increased by 14.1 trillion soums.
The factor of growth in the volume of rendered market services, compared to the previous period of the current year, is the increase in the volume of such types of services as transport services (by 3.9 trillion soums), trade services (by 3.6 trillion soums), financial services ( 2.3 trillion soums), communication and information services (0.9 trillion soums).
The highest growth rates were recorded in services in the field of architecture, engineering surveys, technical tests and analysis (+28.9%), financial services (+25.8%), communication and information services (+15.6%), health services (+14.9%), services in the field of education (+10.7%).
The lowest growth rates are observed in individual services (+ 2.8%), services related to real estate (+ 3.3%), and transport services (+ 3.9%).
Almost one third of the total volume of rendered market services is occupied by transportation services. So, for January-December 2018, their share was 29.5%. Along with this, the largest share was occupied by trade services (26.9%), financial services (14.4%), communication services and information (6.6%).
The effective functioning of the transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan plays an exceptional role in creating the conditions for modernization, the transition to an innovative path of development and sustainable growth of the national economy.
In the total volume of transport services, the largest share was occupied by road transport (49.4%). The share of transportation services through pipelines in January-December 2018 was 17.2%. Services rendered by rail transport in the total volume of transport services account for 13.6%.
The share of freight and passenger transportation by air is 11.5% of the total transport services. Auxiliary transport activities reached 8.3% of the total transport services.
In January - December 2018, the volume of market services provided by road transport was equal to 21.42 trillion soums. Compared with January-December 2017, the growth of these services increased by 2.4%.
The largest share falls on Tashkent city (17.0%), Tashkent (13.6%), Samarkand (11.7%), Ferghana (9.1%), Andijan (8.6%), Bukhara (7 , 4%) and Kashkadarya (7.2%) regions. The smallest share of services provided by road transport was noted in Syrdarya region. It was 1.7%.
Passenger traffic occupies a significant part of the volume of market services provided by road. In January-December 2018, the share of passenger road transport services reached 71.8%.
The share of cargo transportation services in the total volume of rendered market services of motor transport was 28.2%.
In January-December 2018, the volume of trade services was equal to 39.44 trillion soums. The share in the total volume of rendered market services was 26.9%.
Compared to the same period of last year, the volume of trade services increased by 7.44 trillion soums.
The largest volume of trade services was recorded in Tashkent city (12.78 trillion soums), Tashkent (3.57 trillion soums), Samarkand (3.02 trillion soums), Ferghana (3.01 trillion soums), Andijan (2.70 trillion soums), Kashkadarya (2.33 trillion soums) and Surkhandarya (2.24 trillion soums) regions.
The lowest indicators for trade services were observed in Syrdarya region. The volume of trade services in this region was equal to 632.9 billion soums.
With an increase in the level of income of the population, consumer demand and the volume of trade are growing.
The structure of trade services is dominated by retail services, except for cars and motorcycles. Their share in January-December 2018 was 67.7%.
The share of wholesale trade services (except for cars and motorcycles) reached 25.5%.
Services in the wholesale and retail trade of cars and motorcycles, including services for the repair of cars and motorcycles, in the total volume of trade services accounted for 6.8%.
The development of information and communication technologies is necessary for a positive impact on the processes occurring in civil society, as well as in a market economy.
The introduction and development of ICT in many areas of life is an important element that simplifies and accelerates many external and internal processes related to society, government and business.
The volume of communication services and information in January-December 2018 was equal to 9.74 trillion soums. Their growth was 15.6%.
High growth rates were recorded in Tashkent (+ 28.5%), Samarkand (+ 13.5%), Bukhara (+ 13.5%), Surkhandarya (+ 13.3%), Kashkadarya (+ 12.9%) regions and Tashkent (+ 18.6%).
A slight increase in communication and information services, compared with last year, was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (+ 7.7%) and Syrdarya region (+ 7.9%).
Telecommunication services (wired and mobile communication services, the Internet, satellite communication services, etc.) occupy a large part in the volume of communication and information services. Their share is 84.5%.
Among the regions, a high growth of telecommunication services was noted in Tashkent region (30.5%) and the city of Tashkent (20.0%). Minor growth rates of telecommunication services were recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (+ 7.6%) and Syrdarya region (+ 7.8%).
Growing investments in information and communication technologies are driving digital transformation around the world and providing more people with access to a variety of ICT services, in particular mobile services and the Internet.
Currently, mobile services are mostly used by individuals. Their share is 97.5%. The share of legal entities in consumption of mobile services is 2.5%.
Reforms carried out within the framework of monetary policy liberalization, expansion of lending to promising investment projects, as well as the provision of innovative services by financial organizations have had an impact on the growth of financial services.
Thus, in January-December 2018, the volume of financial services was equal to 21.19 trillion soums, compared with the same period of last year, the growth rate amounted to 25.8%.
An increase in the rate of growth of financial services is observed in Jizzakh region (+ 52.1%). Relatively low growth rates were recorded in Tashkent - 17.2%.
In the total volume of financial services, their share prevails, except for insurance and pension provision services. In January-December 2018, it amounted to 89.2%.
Among the regions, the largest share of financial services, except for insurance and pension services, fell to Surkhandarya (91.9%), Kashkadarya (91.6%), Syrdarya (91.4%), Jizzakh (91.3%), Samarkand (91.3%) and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (91.6%). The lowest indicator was recorded in Bukhara region (86.9%).
The largest part in financial services, except for insurance and pension provision services, fell to intermediation services in the monetary sphere (96.8%).
Today, special attention was paid to equipping schools with modern laboratory equipment, computer equipment, textbooks and teaching materials of the new generation as an important factor in improving the quality and efficiency of the educational process.
In January-December 2018, the volume of services in the field of education was equal to 5.42 trillion soums, which rose by 10.7% year-on-year.
During this period, the volume of services for accommodation and meals reached 4.42 trillion soums. Compared with January-December 2017, the growth rate was 4.7%. In the total volume of rendered market services, the share of accommodation and food services was 3.0%.
Food and beverage provision services prevail in the volume of accommodation and food services - 81.2%. The share of accommodation services accounted for 18.8%.
One of the factors for the increase in the share of accommodation services, as compared to January-December 2017, was development of tourism activities in the republic. World-famous historical monuments, modern cities, the unique nature of Uzbekistan, unique national cuisine, as well as the unsurpassed hospitality of our people attract travelers here. Compared to the same period of last year, the share of accommodation services increased by 0.8 percentage points.
Tashkent is the leader among the regions (48.36 trillion soums). Compared to the same period of last year, the growth rate of rendered market services in Tashkent made up 10.6%.
The smallest amount was observed in Syrdarya (1.94 trillion soums), Jizzakh (3.16 trillion soums) and Navoi (3.82 trillion soums) regions.
In January - December 2018, compared with January - December 2017, the highest growth rates were noted in Jizzakh (13.4%), Navoi (11.8%) regions, the Republic of Karakalpakstan (13.0%) and the city of Tashkent (10.6%).
Low growth rates were observed in Tashkent (6.4%), Kashkadarya (7.2%), Bukhara (7.7%) and Samarkand (7.8%) regions.
Prospects for the socio-economic development of modern Uzbekistan depend on the rational use in the national and local interests of all the resources of each economic region and region of the republic.
The largest share in the total volume of services in the regions was occupied by Tashkent city (32.9%), Tashkent (7.5%), Samarkand (6.7%), Ferghana (6.2%) and Andijan (5.4%) a) regions.
Among the regions, the smallest share falls on Syrdarya (1.3%), Jizzakh (2.2%), Navoi (2.6%), Khorezm (3.0%) regions and the Republic of Karakalpakstan (3.1%).
Monthly growth of the rendered market services per capita was observed. Compared with January-November 2018, the volume increased by 417,600 soums and was equal to 4.45 million soums. The difference with January-December 2017 was 794,300 soums.
This figure among regions ranges from 19.44 million soums in Tashkent to 2.16 million soums in Surkhandarya region. The low per capita rate in this region is due here to the high population figures. For comparison: although the number in Navoi region was insignificant (966,200 people), however, the volume of market services rendered per capita is relatively high, namely, it is equal to 3.95 million soums.
The maximum growth in the volume of rendered market services per capita was recorded in the Republic of Karakalpakstan (11.4%), Jizzakh (11.2%), Navoi (10.0%) regions and the city of Tashkent (8.7%).
Low growth rates were recorded in Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions - 5.1%.
