It was noted that the leadership of Uzbekistan pays great attention to development of education sector, including creation of non-state educational institutions in the country. If in 2016, 24 non-state educational institutions functioned in Uzbekistan, their number exceeded 84 in 2018.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov, the Deputy Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sarvar Babakhodjaev, the representative of the State Inspectorate for Supervision of Education Quality under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Makhsudov and members of the Association of Non-State Educational Institutions of Uzbekistan.
Opening the meeting, the Minister of Public Education of Uzbekistan Sherzod Shermatov noted that the leadership of Uzbekistan pays great attention to the development of non-state educational institutions along with state ones. The Minister stressed that development of private schools is not a goal itself, our goal will improve the quality of education.
He added that the meeting was organized to identify problems that hinder the development of non-state educational institutions in Uzbekistan.
It was noted that in recent years, Uzbekistan has taken measures to improve the legislative framework governing the activities of private educational institutions. As a result, the number of private schools increased from 24 in 2016 to 84 in 2018.
Despite this, there are issues in the sphere that hinder the development of non-state educational institutions. In particular, private schools face problems in the process of obtaining licenses and textbooks, taxation issues when organizing education for children from low-income families, etc.
During the meeting, questions were also raised on approval of curricula and introduction of modern methodologies. It was noted that non-state educational institutions together with the Republican Center of Education can develop and implement their curricula based on modern methodologies and experience of foreign countries.
Sherzod Shermatov called on representatives of non-state educational institutions to jointly prepare proposals for solving existing problems and improving the legislation of Uzbekistan in this direction.
It was stressed that the Ministry of Public Education of Uzbekistan is ready to cooperate with investors who intend to open non-state educational institutions and help them launch their projects.
