Uzbek delegation attends OSCE Ministerial Council

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan attended the 24th meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
According to the press service of the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the OSCE Ministerial Council was held in Vienna (Austria) on 7-8 December 2017.
The foreign ministers of the participating and partner countries discussed topical issues related to regional security, strengthening the organization’s capacity to combat new challenges and threats, including illegal drug trafficking.
The ministers also exchanged views on the upcoming Italian Chairmanship in the OSCE in 2018.
The delegation of Uzbekistan held meetings and negotiations with UN Under-Secretary-General, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Yuri Fedotov.
The two sides signed a statement of joint commitment to further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNODC for 2018-2019.
The delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan held talks with the OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger. The sides inked a bilateral document on joint implementation of the Action Plan for further development of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the OSCE in 2018-2019.
On the sidelines of the OSCE Ministerial Council, the delegation of Uzbekistan met with the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Harlem Desir, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia Sven Mikser, the Secretary of State, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania, George Ciamba.
