Uzbekistan and KRICT to create joint institute

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and the Korean Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) signed an agreement on cooperation to establish a joint institute.
The document was signed after negotiations between the Uzbek delegation and the acting President of KRICT Jong Soong Yong.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for establishing a joint research and development center in Uzbekistan.
On 16-18 October 2017, representatives of KRICT visited Uzbekistan, during which they got acquainted with the activities of Tashkent Scientific Research Institute of Chemical Technology and the design institute Uzkimyosanoatloyiha.
During the visit, the sides considered proposals on transformation of two institutes into a single institution in the following areas: research center, design and engineering, diagnostic center, advanced training and education.
Based on the results of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on establishment of a joint institute with Uzkimyosanoat JSC on the basis of Tashkent Scientific Research Institute of Chemical Technology and Uzkimyosanoatloyiha in the following 4 main directions:
The KRICT management expressed readiness to accept 3 Uzbek specialists for doctoral studies in 2018. After the completion of the training, these specialists will work in the newly created joint center in Uzbekistan.
The Korean side presented to the Uzbek side the experience of setting up a research laboratory in Germany and a center in Vietnam. The cost of establishing the research center is US$70 million, of which US$35 million will be provided by the Korean side on a grant basis.
