Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An opening ceremony of new building of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Rayhan Beruni will be held in Tashkent on 2 November 2017.
New building of the Institute was built due to technical assistance funds, provided by the Sultanate of Oman.
The new building of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Rayhan Beruni will house unique manuscripts.
Within the framework of the ceremony an international scientific conference on the topic “Actual problems and modern methods of studying written monuments” will take place in Tashkent with the participation of foreign and domestic specialists.
It should be noted that Oman provided US$20 million for construction of the library building of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Rayhan Beruni of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Institute of Oriental Studies named after Abu Rayhan Beruni of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan has a large fund of manuscript heritage. Institute’s collection was included in the UNESCO World Memory as one of the unique scientific and cultural sites.
The Institute’s fund consists of six collections and includes more than 26,000 volumes of manuscripts, over 39,000 volumes of lithographed books and about 10,000 pieces of historical documents in Arabic, Persian, old Uzbek and other oriental languages.
