Uzbekistan expands production of agriculture goods

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan increased production of agriculture, forestry and fishery goods by 6.6% year-on-year in 2016.
The growth of production in forestry sector made up 1.8%, and fishery - 21.6%, the press service of the State Statistics Committee said.
Share of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the structure of gross value added of Uzbekistan reached to 17.6%.
All categories of farmers produced 8.263 million tonnes of grain, which rose by 87,200 tonnes or by 1.1% year-on-year.
Uzbekistan produced 2.958 million tonnes of potatoes (+9.7%), 11.272 million tonnes of vegetables (+11.3%), 2.045 million tonnes of melons and gourds (+10.4%), 3.042 million tonnes of fruits and berries (+10.8%) and 1.735 million tonnes of grapes (+9.9%).
Uzbekistan also produced 2.172 million tonnes of meat in live weight (+6.8%), 9.703 million tonnes of milk (+7.5%) and 6.111 million eggs (+10.6%).
As of 1 January 2017, number of cattle reached 12.165 million heads (+4.5%), sheep and goats – 19.749 million heads (+3.4%) and poultry – 65.759 million heads (+7.7%).
The fishery industry produced goods (services) for 246.5 billion soums in 2016, which rose by 21.6% compared to 2015.
All farms caught 75,900 tonnes of fish in 2016, which grew by 15,900 tonnes or 26.5% more compared to 2015.
