ADB: Uzbekistan’s economy to grow by 6.9% in 2016

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) kept its forecast on the growth of gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan for 2016 at the level of 6.9%, the bank’s Asian Development Outlook Update said.
According to the report, Uzbekistan’s economy will grow by 7.3% in 2017, which also did not changed compared to previous projection of the bank.
The ADB’s experts forecasted that the inflation level will be at the level of 10% in 2016 and 11% in 2017. The bank kept its forecast on inflation without the change.
The report said that the growth of economy of Uzbekistan in 2016-2017 will depend on situation in the markets of its main trade partners such as Russia, China and Kazakhstan, prices to main export commodities, including natural gas, gold, copper and cotton.
The ADB said that investments into industry, stimulating internal demand due to growth of salaries, pensions and other payments will be main sources of economic growth of Uzbekistan in near years.
