Uzbek cell carrier, Coscom, has received a license for third generation (3G) mobile services, company CEO Bora Baisal told Prime-Tass Tuesday.

Mobile TeleSystems OJSC (MTS), the largest mobile phone operator in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), and Microsoft Corp. yesterday announced their cooperation to deliver new mobile communications services for MTS customers. The collaboration is aimed at extending the range of products in MTS’ market-leading portfolio of value-added services.

According to MForum Analytics statistics, the mobile communication market in the former USSR countries net of RF has reached US$10 billion amounting to US$9.8 billion following the results of 2007. As compared to 2006, the market value increased by 30%.

The signing comes after the company reached a deal in December for Russian private production companies Costafilm and Soho Media for US$50 million in cash over three years. Subject to regulatory approval, the new US$65 million deal will give Russia’s most watched independent provider a 20 percent stake in the firm, as well as 60 percent majority ownership in affiliate advertising, sales and programming companies.

(TTI Telecom), a global supplier of Operations Support Systems (OSS) to communications service providers, announced today that it has signed a partnership agreement with TechnoServ A/S, a large Russian company dedicated to system integration, IT services and creation of engineering facilities.
