The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is expanding its operations in Central Asia and the South Caucasus and in order to support this it will open new offices in Armenia, Georgia and Turkmenistan, the ADB said on its website.

For about one month it has been snowing and the temperature has hit -15 C in Tashkent and reached about - 30 C in northern regions of the country.

The World Bank Regional Vice President Shigeo Katsu has had a three day official visit to Uzbekistan to start consultations on a new Country Assistance Strategy for this country. Mr. Katsu was accompanied by Ms. Annette Dixon, Country Director for Central Asia, Mr. Shahbaz Mavvadat, IFC Director for Southern Europe and Central Asia (SECA), and Mr. Gorton de Mond, IFC Regional Representative in Central Asia.

Samara-based bank Volga Credit plans to enter Uzbekistan’s banking market by opening a branch there. As of now, there are no branches of Russian banks in Uzbekistan, Russian Financial Control Monitor reported.
