Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan sign an agreement on the construction of Kambarotinskaya HPP-1

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan signed a trilateral agreement on preparation for the implementation of the construction and operation project of Kambarotinskaya HPP-1.

The document was signed in Vienna (Austria) within the framework of the international energy investment forum of Kyrgyzstan.

The forum was organized by the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the World Bank Group. The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, also took part in the forum.

The main goal of the forum is to demonstrate Kyrgyzstan’s work on reforming the energy industry, discuss investment opportunities, including the Kambarotinskaya HPP-1 project, as well as the potential to accelerate the transition to clean energy in Central Asia.

The forum is attended by about 200 industry representatives, including representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Austria, France, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Great Britain, the European Union and a number of international financial institutions.

During the forum, a tripartite agreement was signed between the Ministries of Energy of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan on preparation for the implementation of the project for the construction and operation of Kambarotinskaya HPP-1.

According to the agreement, the parties agreed on the further development of cooperation in the energy sector, including renewable energy sources, and the creation of mutually acceptable mechanisms for the use of water and energy resources at Kambarotinskaya HPP-1.
