Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Turkmenistan will supply a batch of liquefied gas to Uzbekistan free of charge, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant Decree on Friday, Business Turkmenistan reports.

The President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree, according to which the Türkmengaz State Concern was ordered to transfer the corresponding volume of liquefied gas to the Republic of Uzbekistan free of charge as friendly and fraternal assistance. The volume of supplied liquefied gas to Uzbekistan was not disclosed.

The order was signed in order to further strengthen good neighborly relations of friendship and brotherhood between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan and provide friendly and fraternal support to Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan this winter is experiencing a shortage of fuel resources. According to TASS with reference to experts, Uzbekistan has long acted as a seller of natural gas. But in recent years, domestic production in Uzbekistan has been declining. Due to the growing energy needs of the country, the local gas transportation infrastructure is no longer able to satisfy them on its own.

Winter this year was abnormally cold in Central Asia, as a result of which Uzbekistan temporarily suspended gas exports to China and even had to limit the operation of filling stations in some areas.
