Legislative Chamber hosts a meeting with the head of Inter Pares
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 October 2022, First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis Akmal Saidov met with Jonathan Murphy, head of the European Union’s Inter Pares project.
During the dialogue, issues of strengthening the potential of Uzbekistan and the European Parliament, the national parliaments of the member countries and partners of the European Union, the implementation of the Inter Pares project aimed at developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation were discussed.
In particular, based on the essence of the large-scale constitutional reforms carried out in our country, within the framework of this project, the Constitution of our country will be presented for review to the national parliaments of the member countries and partners of the European Union, such areas as the activation of bilateral and multilateral exchange of information in the field of lawmaking, wide coverage of human rights and gender equality issues, legal translation of legal acts adopted in our country into foreign languages, as well as translation of the Constitution of the European Union member states into Uzbek and its popularization.
In turn, Jonathan Murphy highly appreciated the fact that as a result of large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has significantly strengthened its position not only in the region, but also on a global scale, it was also noted that cooperation within the framework of this project will serve to further intensify the interaction of the parliament of our country with the parliaments of the member states of the European Union.
At the meeting, which was held in a constructive spirit, the parties agreed to strengthen inter-parliamentary relations and continue practical cooperation.
