Uzbekistan to host 2023 UNWTO General Assembly
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The General Assembly of the UN World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) will be held in Uzbekistan for the first time.
The decision to hold the 25th session of the UNWTO in 2023 in Samarkand was made following a vote during the 24th assembly of the organization in Madrid, Spain.
“It should be noted that the holding of the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in ancient Samarkand will attract over a thousand foreign guests and bring income to the local population and artisans”, said Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Sports Aziz Abdukhakimov.
According to Mr. Abdukhakimov, holding a high-level event in Uzbekistan will undoubtedly attract the attention of the world media, which ultimately will serve to promote the country’s tourism potential and attract even more tourists to Uzbekistan.
