Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 26 October, the Tashkent khokimiyat hosted a meeting between the deputy khokim Sharof Rakhmanov and Ivan Demchenko, chairman of the board and general director of the Russian company Novostal-M.
The guest informed about the activities of the Novostal-M metallurgical holding, which unites two large industrial enterprises: the city-forming LLC Abinsky Electrometallurgical Plant (Krasnodar Territory) and JSC Metallurgical Plant Balakovo (Saratov Region). The holding, whose productivity exceeds 2.7 million tons of steel per year, mainly produces construction and structural steel, wire rod, wire with various types of coatings.
Local construction companies already use fittings from a Russian company and speak well of it. Now Novostal-M is actively entering the Uzbek market: the company’s office has already been opened in Tashkent, warehouses have been built. “But we are striving to expand cooperation, in particular, we are planning to establish the production of steel products,” Ivan Demchenko concluded his speech.
In response, Sharof Rakhmanov noted: Tashkent is actively being built and expanding, filling the shortage of housing, hotel facilities, business centers, and therefore all initiatives related to the construction industry are actively welcomed. The opening of a representative office of Novostal-M in Tashkent testifies to the seriousness of the company’s intentions, and the khokimiyat will support the project to launch metallurgical production.
The parties agreed that following the study of the Uzbek market, representatives of Novostal-M will come up with specific proposals, after which working meetings will continue to determine specific steps to organize metallurgical production in Tashkent.
