The first high-voltage digital substation to be built in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Supervised by the Ministry of Energy, JSC National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan will build the country’s first digital substation.
The investment project for the construction of a 220 kV digital substation "Zafarabad" is being implemented with the support of the Asian Development Bank and will be commissioned in 2023 in Jizzakh region.
- The digital substation "Zafarabad" with a high level of automation of technological processes, equipped with the most modern information technology and control systems and means, will provide additional power to the regional power system of 500 MVA, - noted Feruz Kurbanov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan.
Based on the results of international tenders, in accordance with ADB procedures, a turnkey construction contract was awarded to Shanghai Electric Group Co., Ltd (People’s Republic of China). The consulting company for this project is GOPA - International Energy Consultants GmbH (Germany).
The investment project is being implemented in accordance with the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 28 April 2020 “On measures for the widespread introduction of the digital economy and electronic government” and the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 28 December 2020 “On measures on the implementation of the Investment Program of the Republic of Uzbekistan for 2020-2023”.
