Senators approve law on opening Duty Free shops in historical cities of Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Duty-free shops may open in Samarkand, Bukhara, Khorezm and Qoqand.
At the 20th plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Amendments and Amendments to the Customs Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was approved. This was reported by the press service of the Senate.
In accordance with the law, the terms of customs clearance are reduced from 3 days to 1 day.
From now on, duty-free shops will be opened not only at airports, but also in Samarkand, Bukhara, Khorezm, Qoqand.
In addition, the procedure for issuing permits required for the placement of goods and vehicles under the relevant customs regimes is canceled.
The legal basis is also fixed for the establishment by authorized persons of the norms for the output of goods resulting from processing.
In the field of simplifying the payment of customs duties, the list of goods exempted from taxation when imported into the territory of Uzbekistan is being optimized.
Along with this, the Customs Code is supplemented with new articles. In particular, a new system of pre-trial settlement of disputes between customs and entrepreneurs is being introduced.
“The proposed new system will allow to resolve the existing disputes in the customs authorities. Thus, the number of disputes considered in court will be reduced, on average, by half,” the statement said.
