Tashkent city posts highest GRP growth in 1H

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Tashkent city posted the highest growth of the gross regional product (GRP) in the first half of 2009, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. The Uzbek capital’s economy grew by 13.6% in January-June 2009.
GRP of Tashkent city made up 3.603 trillion soums in the first six months of 2009. GRP per capita rose by 12.3%, the committee said.
Tashkent city was followed by Namangan (10.8%), Andijan (10.6%), Surkhandarya region (9.1%).
As earlier reported, gross domestic product (GDP) of Uzbekistan made up 18.312 trillion soums in January-June 2009, or increased by 8.2% year-on-year.
Bukhara region (4.9%), Khorezm region (5.1%) and Ferghana region (6.1%) posted the lowest GRP growth.
