Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Switzerland are launching a 12-year project to support the reform in the vocational education system in the republic. It is aimed at developing students’ knowledge and skills for successful employment.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Higher Education, the project will be implemented in 2021-2033.
At the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education, a meeting was held with a delegation headed by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Uzbekistan, Mr. Olivier Chave.
The event was attended by the Regional Director of the Helvetas Swiss Intercooperation organization Anna de Beer, which coordinates the project in our country, the Project Manager for Supporting Vocational Education Reforms Brike Steenhoff, and the National Program Coordinator of the Swiss Embassy in Uzbekistan Dildora Abidjanova.
At the meeting, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education was represented by the block of vocational education, headed by Deputy Minister Murodullo Kholmukhamedov.
The main goal of the project is to support ongoing reforms in the vocational education system in Uzbekistan, to develop students’ knowledge and skills aimed at target labor markets, and thereby expand opportunities for obtaining decent work in sectors of the economy.
The project is funded by a grant from the Government of the Swiss Confederation. A phased and systematic implementation of the project is outlined. Participation of both representatives of relevant ministries and departments, as well as business and the private sector is expected.
This process also includes issues such as vocational education management, quality assurance of education, teacher training, and the participation of businesses and employers in vocational education.
Today, in the context of a dynamically changing economy and labor market, teachers of vocational educational institutions require creative thinking and non-standard pedagogical approaches. During the implementation of this project, Swiss experience and know-how will serve as an important catalyst for change in this area.
At the meeting, the main issues on the launch and implementation of the project were agreed.
