Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 7 April 2021, the first international exhibition INNOPROM. Big Industrial Week in Uzbekistan ", which took place at the site of the NEC" Uzexpocentre ". Over three days, the exhibition was attended by over 10,000 guests from all countries of Central Asia. Agreements were reached to start the implementation of 33 projects with the attraction of Russian investments in the amount of US$2.2 billion.
As the Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia Denis Manturov, who took part in the exhibition, noted: “Tashkent as a venue was not chosen by chance. Uzbekistan is gradually expanding opportunities for cooperation with partner countries. The republic is liberalizing tax, customs and currency legislation, creating free economic zones and updating sectoral development strategies. For our part, we fully support the desire for greater openness and are building up cooperation with our Uzbek partners. The best proof of our interest is more than 300 Russian companies, which presented here their achievements in mechanical engineering, metallurgy, energy, information technology, pharmaceutical and medical industries. "
More than 1,000 companies from the Uzbek side took part in the exhibition and business program.
“The Uzbek-Russian economic partnership can be much larger and develop on the basis of complementarity and effective cooperation. There are a lot of directions for cooperation with Uzbekistan. As never before, the digitalization of economies, the accelerated introduction of high technologies and innovations, the strengthening of industrial ties and the development of international cooperation are becoming relevant for our countries. We offer a reliable system of state support for industrial development, which provides a number of benefits and advantages, including the issuance of soft loans,” said Sardor Umurzakov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan.
The site of the Russian-Uzbek Interregional Forum became a new effective format of INNOPROM: 13 regions of Russia and 14 regions of Uzbekistan took part in the exhibition. The governors and khokims agreed to develop interregional contacts, implement joint projects and discuss new ones, including at the site of the annual INNOPROM exhibition in Tashkent.
“The results of the exhibition confirm the right choice of the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation for holding the first foreign INNOPROM: the Republic of Uzbekistan is of great interest for Russian companies, many of which have found partners for themselves,” - Anton Atrashkin, Program Director of INNOPROM.
“Today Uzbekistan is an obvious Central Asian tiger. We are confident in its successful development. Russian investors have an appetite for risk in Uzbekistan, they want to be here. In 2020, Sovcombank has already issued loans to banks and companies of Uzbekistan for $ 500 million. We plan to bring the volume of loans issued to Uzbek companies to US$1 billion by the end of the year,” said Dmitry Gusev, Chairman of the Board of Sovcombank.
