Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 April 2021, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with the Minister of Energy and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic K. During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on topical issues related to the implementation of the agreements reached during the visit of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Uzbekistan in March this year. The prospects for the development of Uzbek-Kyrgyz relations and mechanisms for resolving existing issues, taking into account common interests, were also substantively discussed.
The high dynamics of bilateral contacts at various levels, which formed thanks to the efforts of the Heads of the two states, as well as ambitious plans to strengthen partnerships in the fields of investment, industrial cooperation, trade and transport, were noted. So, in particular, the parties adopted a "Road Map" to expand and deepen cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation, providing for the implementation of 60 joint projects worth more than 550 million dollars. The Uzbek side announced its readiness for close cooperation in order to implement the agreements reached, as well as to work together to supplement the Roadmap with new industrial projects.
Special attention was paid to issues of cooperation in the energy sector - a number of issues were discussed, the solution of which will speed up the implementation of joint projects in this area.
Prospects for building up mutual trade were also considered. It is worth noting that, according to the existing bilateral agreements, the task was set to bring the volume of Uzbek-Kyrgyz trade to US$1 billion this year, and to US$2 billion over the next few years. In this vein, the parties agreed to intensify the study of the creation of wholesale distribution and logistics centers to organize a supply system and promote products of Uzbek and Kyrgyz production to promising markets.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue the practice of holding meetings within the framework of the permanent Working Group on expanding trade and economic partnership and industrial cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as regular consultations at the expert level in order to create favorable business conditions for both parties. , business and export.
