Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed by Deputy Prime Minister Yeraly Tugzhanov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Behzod Musayev took place in Tashkent today.
The parties discussed the current epidemiological situation in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, as well as further joint measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. The parties also expressed confidence that all decisions made during the meeting will give impetus to further mutually beneficial partnership and contribute to improving the well-being of the fraternal peoples of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
E. Tugzhanov emphasized that the COVID-19 pandemic, which swept the whole world, once again demonstrated the need for interaction and mutual support of the two countries. B. Musaev noted the high level of efficiency of the leadership of Kazakhstan in timely response to the epidemiological situation, ensuring the availability of PCR testing and medicines for the population, and the construction of new hospitals.
The Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan especially emphasized the success of the introduction of information technologies that help to counter the spread of coronavirus infection.
Representatives of the government of Uzbekistan expressed their readiness to intensify partnership in the field of health in the form of a constant exchange of information on the current epidemiological situation.
Further, the vice-premiers of the two countries discussed joint projects in the field of the pharmaceutical industry, including the construction of a plant for the production of medicines and hygiene products in Kazakhstan and the creation of enterprises for the production of pharmaceutical products in Uzbekistan.
In a pandemic, the issue of vaccination is especially relevant. The Kazakh delegation spoke about the interim results of the I and II phases of clinical trials of the QazCovid-in inactivated vaccine.
The results of the first and second stages showed high efficiency. The third phase of clinical trials is currently underway, involving 3,000 people. Continuing the meeting, E. Tugzhanov put forward a proposal to develop and sign an Agreement between the Ministries of Health of the two countries.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, this step will provide new opportunities for the development of the healthcare sector, including digital technologies and intelligent systems, medical education and science, pharmacy, public-private partnerships and other areas.
As part of the two-day visit, the Kazakh delegation will visit a number of medical centers and pharmaceutical enterprises, as well as the Tashkent Medical Academy. In turn, E. Tugzhanov invited his Uzbek colleagues to pay a return visit to Kazakhstan to get acquainted with the work of leading medical centers.
Behzod Musayev thanked for the invitation and expressed readiness to continue further exchange of experience, knowledge and achievements in the field of healthcare and education.
