The share of small businesses in GDP of Uzbekistan was 53.9% in 2020

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The share of small businesses in GDP of Uzbekistan in January-December 2020 was 53.9%. The number of small businesses per 1000 people was 15.6 units. In January-December 2020, 93.2 thousand new small enterprises and micro-firms (excluding dehkans and farms) were created again, which is 0.4% more Share of small businesses than the same period in 2019, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.

The largest number of small enterprises and micro-firms was created in the field of trade – 35 213 units, industry – 18 596 units, agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 14 969 units, construction – 6 009 units, accommodation and food services - 5637 units, transportation and storage – 2 397 units.

In terms of regions, the largest share falls on the city of Tashkent and in the total number of newly created small enterprises and microfirms is 15.5%, in Samarkand region - 9.3%, Tashkent region - 8.9%, Ferghana region - 8.7%, Andijan region - 8.2%, Surkhandarya region - 8.1%, Namangan region - 6.6%, Bukhara region - 6.3%.

In January-December 2020, the number of operating small businesses per 1 000 people was 15.6 units.

In January-December 2020, in the regional context, the largest indicator of the number of small businesses (per 1000 population, units) was in the city of Tashkent - 32.0 units, Syrdarya region - 21.1 units, Navoi region - 21.0 units, in Jizzakh region this indicator reached 18.7 units, in Tashkent region - 17.4 units.

The highest indicator is in Yakkasaray district of the city of Tashkent - 63.1 units. The average indicator in Pakhtakor district of Jizzakh region is 16.4 units. A low indicator in Khazarasp district of te Khorezm region - 7.0 units.

In January-December 2020, in the context of cities and districts, the largest indicator of the number of small businesses (per 1000 population) was 63.1 units in Yakkasaray region, 59.3 units in Bektemir region, and 48.7 units in Mirabad region, Karaulbazar region - 43.4 units, Gulistan city - 42.8 units, Chilanzar region - 42.4 units, Tamdy region - 42.3 units, Mirzo-Ulugbek region - 33.2 units.

In January-December 2020, the share of small business in GDP was 53.9% (54.2% in January-December 2019). This decrease is explained by an increase in the share of large enterprises in the structure of GDP.

In the regional context, the largest share of small entrepreneurship (business) in GRP falls on Jizzakh (82.7%), Surkhandarya (77.1%), Khorezm (75.3%), Bukhara (74.7%) and Samarkand (73.9%) region. In the Navoi region, this indicator remains low at 25.5%.

In January-December 2020, the volume of exports of products (works, services) of small businesses amounted to 3 100.6 million US dollars, or 20.5% of its total volume.

In the regional context, the largest share of small businesses in the export of products (works, services) is noted in Syrdarya (80.8%), Khorezm (70.0%), Surkhandarya (63.9%), Jizzakh (61.6%), Ferghana (57.4%) and Samarkand (57.3%) regions. In Navoi region (11.8%), the share of small businesses in the export of products (works, services) remains low.

In January-December 2020, the volume of imports of products (works, services) of small businesses amounted to 10 972.7 million US dollars, or 51.8% of its total volume.

In the regional context, the largest share of small business in the import of products (works, services) falls on Jizzakh (93.4%), Surkhandarya (92.9%), Namangan (76.3%), Ferghana (73.8%) and Syrdarya (71.1%) regions. In Andijan region (12.9%), the share of small businesses in the import of products (works, services) remains low.

In January-December 2020, small businesses produced industrial products in the amount of 100.8 trillion soums.

In the regional context, the largest volume of industrial production falls on the city of Tashkent (25 841.5 billion soums), Tashkent (13 457.9 billion soums), Ferghana (9 916.6 billion soums), Samarkand (8 216.4 billion soums) and Andijan (7 134.0 billion soums) regions. In the Surkhandarya region (2 608.2 billion soums), the volume of industrial production remains low.

In January-December 2020, the share of small businesses in the total volume of industrial production amounted to 27.5%.

In the regional context, the largest share of small business in the total production volume was 64.2% in the Jizzakh region, 50.0% in Namangan, 47.3% in Surkhandarya, 45.9% in Ferghana, 45.5% in Samarkand, Tashkent city - 38.7%, Syrdarya - 37.3%, Bukhara - 34.8%, Kashkadarya - 34.7% and Khorezm - 29.5% regions. In Navoi region, the share of small business remains low - 6.6%.

In January-December 2020, the volume of retail turnover of small businesses amounted to 160.08 trillion soums, or 82.2% of the total retail turnover. Compared to January-December 2019, the growth rate was 101.4%.

In the regional context, the largest volume of retail trade turnover was recorded in the city of Tashkent (30.63 trillion soums), Tashkent (17.65 trillion soums), Ferghana (14.07 trillion soums), Samarkand (13.27 trillion soums), Andijan (12.88 trillion soums) and Kashkadarya (11.64 trillion soums) regions

In January-December 2020, the volume of construction work carried out by small businesses amounted to 63.61 trillion soums, or 72.4% of the total volume of construction work. By the level of January-December 2019, the growth rate reached 4.3%.

In the regional context, the largest volume of construction work performed was recorded in Tashkent city (13.33 trillion soums), Tashkent (5.54 trillion soums), Samarkand (4.91 trillion soums), Ferghana (4.45 trillion soums), Kashkadarya (4.28 trillion soums), Bukhara (4.27 trillion soums) and Andijan (4.17 trillion soums) regions.

In January-December 2020, small businesses produced (rendered) services for 112.74 trillion soums (51.5% of the total volume of services provided), a decrease compared to January-December 2019 was 1.0%.

In the regional context, the largest volume of services was noted in Tashkent city (33.9 trillion soums), Tashkent (11.55 trillion soums), Samarkand (9.89 trillion soums), Ferghana (9.35 trillion soums), Andijan (7.54 trillion soums), Kashkadarya (7.08 trillion soums) and Bukhara (6.52 trillion soums) regions.

In January-December 2020, the share of small businesses in the total volume of cargo transportation amounted to 52.4%, compared to January-December 2019, the growth rate reached 1.8%.

In January-December 2020, the share of small businesses in the total freight turnover amounted to 76.2%, compared to January-December 2019, the growth rate reached 0.7%.

In January-December 2020, the share of small businesses in the total volume of passenger transportation amounted to 93.9%, compared to January-December 2019, a decrease was noted at the level of 8.8%

In January-December 2020, the share of small businesses in the total passenger turnover amounted to 96.1%, compared to January-December 2019, the decrease was 8.6%.

At the end of the IV quarter of 2020, a sample survey of the activities of small enterprises and microfirms that had proceeds from the sale of products (goods, works and services) in the last reporting year by type of economic activity was carried out, in which 16 391 respondents took part.

By type of economic activity, the share of small enterprises and micro-firms participating in the sample survey was 5.1% (829 units) in agriculture, forestry and fisheries, industry - 18.0% (2 950 units), construction - 10.1% (1 658 units), trade - 35.0% (5 740 units), services - 31.8% (5 214 units).

By regions, the largest number of small enterprises and micro-firms participating in the sample survey is in the city of Tashkent (3 970 units), Tashkent (1 578 units), Ferghana (1 316 units), Samarkand (1 298 units), Andijan (1 066 units) regions.

According to a survey of the activities of small enterprises and microfirms that had proceeds from the sale of products (goods, works and services) in the last reporting year, in the IV quarter of 2020, compared to the corresponding period of 2019, a favorable assessment of the general economic situation decreased at enterprises across all activities. Along with this, a satisfactory economic situation improved at industrial enterprises and their assessment, compared to the same period in 2019, increased by 1.4 points, construction - by 4.7 points, trade - by 6.8 points, as well as in the services increased by 6.2 points. In the IV quarter of 2020, compared to the corresponding period of 2019, in agriculture, forestry and fisheries there was an increase in the share of enterprises assessing the economic situation as unsatisfactory by 2.4 points, in industry - by 5.2 points, construction - by 7.5 points, trade - by 3.7 points, services - by 6.6 points.
