WHO: over 11,000 people died from COVID-19 in the last 24 hours

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- According to the World Health Organization, the number of people infected with coronavirus infection in the world is more than 89 million 48 thousand, of which more than 1 million 930 thousand people have died (as of 19:21 CET on 11 January 2021 ). Over the past day, 660,993 new cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in the world, 11,061 patients have died.

According to current data from Johns Hopkins University (as of 10:22 am Tashkent time on 12 January 2021), more than 90 million 891 thousand people have been infected in the world, of which more than 1 million 944 thousand have died.

The leader in the number of confirmed cases remains the United States, where, according to WHO, more than 22.009 million infected have been identified. In second place is India (over 10.466 million), in third place is Brazil (over 8.075 million), in fourth place is Russia (3.425 million), in fifth place is Great Britain (3.072 million).

According to the WHO, over the past day, 248,089 new cases were registered in the United States, 16,311 in India, 62,290 in Brazil, 23,315 in Russia and 54,940 in the UK.
