Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 December 2020, the 16th round of political consultations was held between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Federal Republic of Germany in the format of a video conference.
The delegations of the parties were headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sherzod Asadov and the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany for Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia, Michael Siebert.
During political consultations, the state and prospects for expanding bilateral multifaceted cooperation were discussed, the schedule and organizational aspects of upcoming joint events were considered.
Particular attention was paid to interaction in trade, economic, financial, technical and investment spheres. The progress in the implementation of the agreements reached following the results of mutual visits at the highest level in 2019 was analyzed in detail.
The importance of continuing joint work on the draft Agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation with the EU and Uzbekistan’s obtaining the status of a beneficiary within the General System of Preferences Plus (GSP +) was emphasized.
The talks also considered issues of the regional and international agenda.
