AKFA University students present their activities as volunteers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- AKFA University students took part in the first medical volunteers’ forum. Students presented projects, in which they participate as volunteers and showed their skills in providing medical care.
The Medical Volunteer Forum was organized by the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan in cooperation with partner organizations. The forum was held at the Youth Creativity Palace on 30 November 2020. Students of medical universities from Samarkand, Bukhara and Andijan also came to participate in the forum.
President of the Student Council of AKFA University Shakhina Atajanova acted as the speaker of the forum. During her speech, she spoke about the activities of AKFA University students in volunteering, cooperation with international organizations of the International Federation of Medical Students Associations (IFMSA) and the United Nations, as well as with the Association of Medical Students of Uzbekistan (UzMSA Phenomenon).
At the AKFA University students’ stand, visitors could get information about the activities of the university and took part in master classes held by students.
In the first master class, the participants gained knowledge on providing the first aid. The master class was held using a special training dummy.
In the second master class, students showed the participants how they conduct various experiments while studying at the AKFA University. Special equipment was used to conduct experiments in the forum. In particular, the students showed how a mirror can be made from glucose.
It should be noted that AKFA University students are actively involved in volunteer activities. In particular, during the coronavirus pandemic, students volunteered at the AKFA Medline clinic and helped doctors to provide care to patients.
Deputy Minister of Health of Uzbekistan Abdulla Azizov visited the stand of AKFA University. The head of the Student Council of the AKFA University Shakhina Atajanova told the Deputy Minister about the activities of the university and the activities of volunteer-students.
In 2019, Uzbekistan adopted a law “On volunteer activities.” The document officially fixed the status of a volunteer in our country.
According to the law, the goals of volunteering are to provide assistance to individuals and legal entities, society as a whole, environmental protection, participation in socially significant events with the consent of their organizers, the formation of a civic position, self-organization, a sense of social responsibility, solidarity, mutual assistance and mercy in society.
