Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 24 October this year, a working group led by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov traveled to Syrdarya region to get acquainted with the progress of cotton picking from farms and clusters, identify existing problematic issues and development of practical measures to solve them.
It was noted that the quality of cotton as a raw material for the textile industry, which is one of the drivers of the economy and has significant growth potential, also significantly affects the development of a number of interrelated industries. In this regard, the importance of an accelerated transition to the use of modern methods of cotton growing, including laser leveling, water-saving technologies and innovative approaches to agricultural activities, was emphasized.
The issues of cluster activities with the participation of foreign investors were studied separately.
The practical aspects of the economic activities of cotton clusters and farms operating in the field are considered. The course of the implementation of the program for increasing the level of mechanization of the cotton harvest in Syrdarya region has been analyzed - instructions have been given to accelerate its implementation and promptly resolve the existing problematic issues in this direction.
In this context, the urgency of the accelerated and widespread implementation of modern international standards in the field of cotton production was also noted, providing for the provision of high quality raw materials subject to the observance of technological and labor standards by farms and cotton clusters, which in turn will create opportunities for the further development of export potential in this area. industry through cooperation with foreign brands.
Particular attention was paid to the implemented measures to prevent forced labor during the harvest, and to ensure decent working and living conditions for pickers. At the same time, the emphasis was placed on the need for strict compliance with the requirements of sanitary and epidemiological safety in a pandemic.
Based on the results of the work in the region, the responsible heads of the relevant ministries and local authorities were given targeted instructions and practical recommendations to ensure high-quality and timely cotton harvest.
