Uzbek Senator holds meeting with the head of the Association of US Business Women’s Organizations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 19 October 2020, in the format of a video conference, the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva met with the chief executive of Women Business Collaborative Edie Fraser.
During the conversation, issues related to the establishment of mutual cooperation and joint work aimed at promoting the role of women in social development were discussed.
The Women Business Collaborative (WBC) is the authoritative body that supports women in doing business and developing entrepreneurship. It brings together 39 of America’s largest business women’s organizations that are involved in initiatives and programs that promote women in leadership positions in large businesses, providing them with the necessary conditions and capital for the development of entrepreneurship.
During the meeting, the American side was informed in detail about the reforms carried out in the country in support of women. In particular, the emphasis is placed on the measures of Uzbekistan to reduce poverty, solve social problems of women through the introduction of the "women’s notebook", create funds to support women’s entrepreneurship, and provide credit lines.
In turn, Edie Fraser praised the state policy pursued in Uzbekistan to provide all-round support to the fairer sex, especially in promoting them to leading positions in the field of public administration. “Uzbekistan is a shining example of a developing country that others should be equal to,” said the WBC chair.
The head of the WBC stressed the importance of the laws adopted in the country to ensure gender equality. She also highly appreciated the presence of 23% of women in the Senate and 32% in the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis in the new composition of the Parliament of Uzbekistan, stressing that this is a significant achievement in increasing the political activity of representatives of the beautiful half of humanity.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue cooperation in order to implement specific projects to increase the socio-economic activity of women, especially the development of women’s entrepreneurship.
They also exchanged views on the organization of mutual visits of delegations of countries in order to establish and strengthen dialogue on topical issues of ensuring gender equality.
