Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Javlon Vakhabov held talks with the commander of the National Guard and the Mississippi Army (USA), General Janson Boyles, Dunyo news agency reported.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington, during the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, identified additional measures to build up trade and economic ties between the republic and the state of Mississippi, as well as issues of organizing a visit to Uzbekistan by the Governor of Tate Reeves.
More than 3 million people live in Mississippi. The volume of the gross regional product is about 100 billion US dollars, the region is predominantly agricultural, occupies one of the first places in the United States in terms of cotton production. Mississippi farms grow soybeans, corn, rice, wheat, sugarcane, peanuts, pecans, and various vegetables and fruits. Livestock, poultry and dairy farming are also well developed. In recent decades, the state’s economy has become increasingly diversified.
At the beginning of the event, the head of our diplomatic mission congratulated General v Boyles on the victory of the Mississippi National Guard representative in the all-American competition for the title of "Best Warrior" of the US National Guard in 2020. It should be noted that representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, who took part in similar competitions in the state of Mississippi on December 12-15, 2019, confidently defeated their American counterparts - the current US champions.
As the commander of the National Guard noted, Uzbek servicemen always demonstrate high combat skills and excellent physical endurance training, the ability to quickly master new types of weapons and military equipment of local production, without having any previous experience in using and managing them.
The parties exchanged views on the resumption of the practice of participation of NCOs and officers of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic in the annual competitions in Mississippi starting in the spring of 2021.
One of the main topics on the agenda of the talks was the strengthening of trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and the state of Mississippi. Janson Boyles was informed in detail about the current transformations in our country and support for economic activity during the pandemic, including the active international agenda of the Government.
“Strengthening mutually beneficial and long-term partnerships of Mississippi in all directions with Uzbekistan, not limited to the military component, is a priority task of the state,” the American general stressed.
The timing of the organization of the visit of the current Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves to Uzbekistan, which was previously postponed due to the epidemiological situation in the world, was discussed in order to get acquainted with the progress of reforms and transformations in the country, as well as build up close partnerships with the regions of the republic. Recall that in May 2019, a delegation led by the then Governor of Mississippi Phil Bryant paid an official visit to Uzbekistan.
During a 2021 visit, a state delegation led by Governor Tate Reeves was also invited to organize a separate trade mission to further build up bilateral trade, economic and investment ties.
An agreement was reached on the beginning of the formation of the future agenda and the inclusion of representatives of large business in the delegation.
Taking into account the vast experience of the American region in the field of poultry and livestock breeding, specific prospects for attracting leading Mississippi companies to organize meat production in Uzbekistan were also discussed.
In general, the American side reaffirmed its firm commitment to further strengthening relations between Mississippi and Uzbekistan and expanding the bilateral agenda by actively promoting the economic component of cooperation.
