Senate of Oliy Majlis: Criminal case with indictment against Andijan police officers sent to court
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- In May this year, officers of the 4th department of internal affairs of the Andijan city department for coordinating the activities of the internal affairs department, illegally detaining citizen A. Abdukarimov, in order to coerce him to confess, pressured him with the use of violence, as a result of which he died in the hospital.
This case, which caused a lot of discussion on social networks, was taken under the control of the Committee on Defense and Security of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The criminal case initiated on this fact was accepted for further investigation by the Office of the Prosecutor General’s Office for Investigation of Serious Crimes.
During the investigation, 6 employees of the internal affairs bodies were charged under Article 104 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Intentional grievous bodily injury), Article 206 (Excessive power or official powers), Article 227 (Seizure, destruction, damage or concealment of documents, stamps, seals, letterheads, state license plates of motor vehicles and their trailers (semi-trailers), Article 234 (Unlawful arrest or detention), Article 235 (Use of torture and other cruel , inhuman or degrading treatment and punishment) as a preventive measure, five accused were taken into custody, and one accused - a measure of dignified behavior.
In addition, due to the lack of proper departmental control and organization of the work of the personnel, the head of the Department for Coordination of Actions of the Andijan Internal Affairs Directorate Sodik Usmanov was dismissed from the internal affairs bodies.
At present, the investigative actions have been completed, the criminal case with the indictment has been sent for consideration on the merits to the Andijan Regional Criminal Court.
