Uzbekistan to allocate 1.5 trillion soums for the development of regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A resolution of the President "On organizational measures for the formation of programs for the development of social and industrial infrastructure of the Republic of Uzbekistan" was adopted.
In accordance with the resolution, in 2021, 17.1 trillion soums will be allocated to implement the Program for the Development of Social and Industrial Infrastructure of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as 1.5 trillion soums for expenses on social and economic development of regions in accordance with the instructions of the President.
For the modernization of the architectural appearance and improvement of regional centers and cities in 2021, funds in the amount of 1.4 trillion soums will be allocated.
In connection with the allocation of funds for the development of the material and technical base of defense and law enforcement agencies at the expense of their extra-budgetary funds, the volume of centralized investments directed to them is reduced commensurately.
Starting from 2022, projects of budgetary organizations implemented at the expense of their extra-budgetary funds are included in programs for the development of social and industrial infrastructure in Uzbekistan.
According to the resolution, in 2021, private entrepreneurship will be attracted to 10 facilities as an experiment to provide engineering services.
In cooperation with the International Monetary Fund and other international structures in selected industries, the Public Investment Management Assessment (PIMA) system will be introduced as an experiment, followed by a phased widespread implementation.
According to the resolution, within the framework of the formation and implementation of the Program for the development of social and industrial infrastructure of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2021-2023, it is provided:
development of the material and technical base of district (city) medical associations and primary health care institutions, as well as the expansion of public-private partnership projects in the industry;
complete renovation in 2021–2022 of school desks, the service life of which has exceeded 10 years, by doubling the funds allocated for equipping secondary schools;
ensuring the construction of preschool educational institutions, first of all - in densely populated areas with a low level of coverage, as well as in new areas under construction;
widespread attraction of extra-budgetary funds from ministries and departments, as well as the direction of part of the funds received from training on a paid-contract basis for construction and installation work and equipping higher educational institutions;
channeling 10 percent of the funds allocated to the industry for the installation of energy-saving equipment and the purchase of special equipment in order to reduce the cost of drinking water and reduce water loss;
attraction on a broad basis of funds from international financial institutions and private partners for the construction and reconstruction of highways of international importance.
